Anne Marie Carrie

Anne Marie Carrie was born and raised in Glasgow. She trained as an electrical engineer, became a community centre manager, before training as a speech and language teacher. She then rose through middle management to become a deputy headteacher in a large secondary school and then a head of department in a further education college. She was appointed assistant director for 52 secondary schools in Lothian Regional Council.

On local government reorganisation, she became Director of Education and Children's Services in East Lothian and was subsequently appointed Executive Director of Education in North Tyneside. She worked for three years in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister where her main task was to transform the performance of the most poorly performing councils in England.

In 2006 she joined the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea as its first Executive Director for Family and Children's Services, where her responsibilities include education, child protection, adoption and fostering, the youth service and the play service.

Anne Marie has also held director posts in numerous voluntary and private organisations, including the Health Education Board for Scotland, Women's Aid, the Scottish Seaboard Centre and the BBC.

She is keen to make the Chelsea Academy the best Academy in the country.
