Big Bang at Chelsea Academy

During Science Week, Chelsea Academy hosted a science event called ‘Big Bang at Chelsea Academy’, with the aim of raising engagement with science and encouraging young people to consider science-related careers. The event was supported by STEMNET, a national organisation that aims to connect young people with inspiring role models within the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The event was supported by STEMNET, a national organisation that aims to connect young people with inspiring role models within the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

There were several events that took place, including a ‘Primary Science’ event where our own students did simple science demonstrations for visiting primary schools students from Ashburnham and St Mary’s RC School; a careers fair at lunch time where visiting engineers and scientists from a range of backgrounds spoke to our students about science-related careers; and several special activities in science lessons where students had to use basic engineering principles to solve a problem.
