13 Nov KS5 Maths Challenge
On Thursday 5th November, Year 12 and Year 13 students who study Further Mathematics sat the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge. The 90 minute paper consisted of challenging problem solving questions. Of the 14 students who sat the paper, 3 were awarded Gold Certificates, 2 were awarded Silver Certificates and 7 were awarded Bronze certificates. Two students scored within the top 3000 participant in the United Kingdom and, as a result, have qualified for the Senior Kangaroo Challenge.
To further their Problem Solving skills, two of our Year 12 students were selected to take part in Maths Problem Solving Masterclasses at UCL. The students really enjoyed the first session last week, discovering the number of different ways you could think about a maths problem. They will continue to attend these sessions each Wednesday for the whole half term.
