On Friday 25th March, the whole community came together to celebrate our global citizenship at Our World Fair. Year 7 students worked hard for six weeks to prepare their stalls. The challenge they had been set in Personal Development lessons was to come up with an enterprise idea that would raise money for the charity of their choice. Our Year 7s were passionate about many of the important global issues: eradicating poverty; protecting animals and the environment; fairtrade and the disaster in Japan were just some.
We were delighted to welcome parents and families, our local primary schools, our friends at the Miranda Barry Day Centre and our PCSOs. It was probably our warmest day of the year so far and everyone enjoyed the afternoon sunshine and exciting stalls. Year 7 had thought of everything, from ‘beat the goalie’ and ‘sponge a student’ to crafts, nail painting, toy auctions to cakes and fairtrade coffee! Our World Fair raised an amazing £730 for the following global charities: UNICEF; The Red Cross; WaterAid; Comic Relief; Fairtrade Foundation; ActionAid; War Child; WWF; The Blue Cross; Children in Need and Help for Heroes.
A great big thank you to everyone who supported, came along and helped out the Year 7 Personal Development classes.
