You are invited to attend a meeting of the Family and Children’s Services Scrutiny Committee on Wednesday 28th November to help participate in an “open hour”. During this hour, members of the public (including elder children) can suggest topics or themes they wish for the Committee to focus on. This can be about sports facilities, libraries, social services, schools etc.

Family and Children’s Services Scrutiny Committee is a Councillor-led function within the Council and is separate from the Academy. Its purpose is to hold decision-makers to account on behalf of Borough residents and to help develop policies and initiatives that make the Borough a better place to live and work. This is not a decision-making Committee, though the Committee can and does make recommendations to the Leadership Team and the senior officers who support them, who must provide a response to the Committee.

The meeting itself will start at 6pm in the Theatre and will have two halves, the first featuring the “open hour”, where members of the public will be invited to speak on issues which are important to them. The second half will feature items scheduled by the Committee, which members of the public are welcome to stay for if they wish, however there will be no opportunity for public speaking in this section. For those wishing to speak during the first hour, there is no need to register in advance.

We hope to see you there. If you have any questions please contact Isabel.saunders@rbkc.gov.uk
