School Uniform Shortages – Global Supply Problems

Posted on: July 22, 2022

Dear Parents, Carers and Students, You may have seen in the news and in turn, we have also been warned by our manufacturers, that many retailers are experiencing delays in goods getting into stores. Though we felt this was only going to be a problem last year, we are still subjected to a very similar situation this year round! School Uniform Direct placed orders as far back as October 2021 for back-to-school 2022 to minimise disruption. We are currently in a strong position, however, not completely immune from the circumstances across the globe. We are asking Parents and Guardians to place their orders or come in-store as soon as possible and no later than 31st July 2022 – With additional incentives to purchase before the 31st of July. This will help ensure that…

Hop-on, Hop-off Bus Tour of London for Our New Students

Posted on: July 15, 2022

On Wednesday 13th July, our new students went on a Hop-on, Hop-off bus tour of London. It was an amazing opportunity for them to expand their knowledge of the capital and have some fun together. The highlights of the day were: taking the Uber Boat from Chelsea Harbour and marvelling at the historic bridges along the way, followed by hopping on the tour bus and taking a million photos of the world-famous London landmarks, walking through China Town and salivating at the delicious food, stopping for a well-deserved picnic at St James’s Park and last but not least waving at the Queen’s Guards outside the Buckingham Palace.  All the students had a wonderful time!

Culture Day

Posted on: July 12, 2022

On Thursday 8th July, we celebrated our first Culture Day at Chelsea Academy. The day was the initiative of our student anti-racism group, For the Culture. Its aim was to give staff and students, especially those from minority backgrounds, the chance to celebrate their cultures, and for everybody to learn together about the many cultures that enrich our school community. The day was a great success! Students celebrated their cultures by wearing cultural dress, and engaged enthusiastically in opportunities to learn about one another’s cultures through conversations with staff and peers, lesson activities and extra-curricular cookery, art and dance classes. There was such a positive atmosphere between staff and students throughout the day as we united in demonstrating how much…

Chelsea Academy Sports Day 2022

Posted on: July 12, 2022

600 students, 100 staff, 18 events and 1 amazing day. Our annual sports day took place at Battersea Park on Tuesday 5th July 2022. The students and staff were in high spirits as they ran, jumped, and launched themselves into the day’s events. From old-school favourites like tug of war and egg and spoon races to ball games like football, volleyball and benchball. The sun shone, the music played, the students smiled and the staff encouraged. When the day ended the points were added up and finally, after 12 years without a win, Einstein came out on top and were crowned Sports Day Champions 2022. Next year can’t come round quick enough!

Explore Urban Nature Trip

Posted on: July 6, 2022

We arrived at Hyde Park, in sunshine, with twenty-six Year 9 students on Monday. Students were enthusiastic when studying specimens and investigating the local park. We got to enjoy learning in the outdoor classroom, where we found out about how to conduct investigations and ask scientific questions. Students then completed their own investigation and developed their own questions about improving biodiversity, whilst considering how humans can enjoy urban nature too. Although it ended in a downpour, students were in high spirits and got praised for being a fantastic group, by the Natural History Museum Educators that ran the session.

Whitstable Trip

Posted on: June 28, 2022

The Geography department led two fantastic trips to Whitstable last week. Year 10 were able to carry out fieldwork which is part of their GCSE course. The Academy is delighted that this aspect of the GCSE course has returned after a gap during the Covid years and it was excellent that students can experience something that so far they have only learnt about in a classroom setting.
