Extra-curricular

It’s been a busy start to the school year for the PE department with events and fixtures coming thick and fast. We have competed in football, netball, cross-country, basketball and table tennis tournaments so far, with athletics, handball and volleyball tournaments coming up in Term 2.

We continue to offer a diverse range of after-school sport clubs, with trampolining attracting a large number of students, cheerleading gaining momentum and rock climbing growing in popularity. We have also strengthened our links with community clubs such as PACA Cheerleading, London Knights Basketball and Chelsea Handball Club.

Curriculum

In curriculum time we have broadened our curriculum offer to include activities such as lacrosse, vaulting, team building, multi-skills and different styles of dance. We have also launched our KS3 ‘PE Bucketlist’ which gives KS3 students 24 mini challenges to try to accomplish before the end of Year 8.

Events

On the 14th of November we took 20 students to Wembley Stadium to watch the men’s England football team play their 1000th match. It was an absolutely amazing evening watching them beat Montenegro 7-0.

The night after the England game we had the pleasure of watching one of our students (Nora – Year 10) be nominated for ‘Young Sports Person Award’ at the first ever RBKC Sports Awards.

A glimpse into Term 2

Looking ahead to Term 2, we are excited about our trip to Body Worlds with our exam PE groups and about offering BMX to our students for the very first time. Exciting times ahead!
