Year 7 Spiritual Retreat – September 2021

This September Mr. Richards, our Chaplain and our Chelsea Champion Ms Thomson have been taking each Year 7 coaching group to St Luke’s church for a spiritual retreat day.  One student in Year 7 Galileo said the following: “I enjoyed the session with Ms Thomson as it gave me an opportunity to speak about myself and also to learn more about other people”. The activities have involved ‘Human Bingo’, paper aeroplane making, circle time discussions and team games such as ‘Flip the cone’, ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf’ and ‘Splat!’.  The students have also had time to reflect on what is meaningful to them with; one student in Year 7 Curie said: “What is most meaningful to me is time…

The activities have involved ‘Human Bingo’, paper aeroplane making, circle time discussions and team games such as ‘Flip the cone’, ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf’ and ‘Splat!’

The students have also had time to reflect on what is meaningful to them with; one student in Year 7 Curie said: “What is most meaningful to me is time spent with my family and friends”. Each student has designed their own anchor to form a larger anchor display for their coaching room. Mrs Ardron will be judging each display and announcing a winner.

There has also been time for the students to write their own prayer and/or reflection and to also learn the Academy hymn ‘Will Your Anchor Hold’. This hymn reminds us at Chelsea Academy that we have a strong anchor in the form of our Christian values of Joy, Perseverance, Charity, Servant Leadership and Forgiveness. Chelsea Academy has gifted each student with a gift bag containing five items to remind them of these values.

The students and staff feedback has been immensely positive with students saying that they have enjoyed the day and found it meaningful.

A massive thank you must go to St Luke’s Church, Earls Court and the Holy Trinity Brompton youth team who have been hosting us on these days and providing lunch.
