As part of Chelsea Academy’s Extended Curriculum programme, we took 130 Year 8 students on a three-day outdoor educational residential trip to Dorset.
During the visit, students participated in a range of exciting and enriching activities. Our aim was to enable our Year 8 students, whatever their individual strengths or abilities, to achieve their full potential and challenge them to accomplish personal goals and give them the confidence to tackle uncertainty effectively, thus developing them as resilient young people who are able to flourish.
Students had the opportunity to experience a variety of enjoyable and rewarding activities which they may not be able to access in their normal ‘day to day’ lives. The centre offered a wide range of sessions including: climbing, bodyboarding, high ropes, campfire skills and team building sessions.
All the students made the most of the outdoors and activities that were on offer by Land & Wave, especially all the exciting activities along the beach in the sunshine.
On the whole, all students found the experience a very rewarding one which provided them all with great learning experiences that they will treasure for the rest of their lives.
I believe the memories created on this trip have drastically enhanced our student’s learning experience. Being immersed in real-life learning is the most powerful educational experience.
