It began with a letter… All of Year 8 were invited to take part in a fantastic 3 day residential trip to Dorset. When departure day finally arrived, we loaded onto 3 coaches of students, along with 14 teachers, and set off in the bright sun.
Once we arrived at the Bournemouth hotel and quickly unloaded our luggage, we set off for an afternoon of team activities. My group went to the beach to enjoy some beach games and it was exciting to get out of the busy streets of London for once! Then, came day two which is when the REAL fun activity began; we got to swim in the Extremely Freezing open waters of England, and many cherished memories were made as we plunged into the sea! Me and my group stayed in the waters for 4 CONSECUTIVE hours, before drying ourselves and returning to the hotel for dinner and an evening swim in the much warmer indoor pool!
The third and final day was also great fun as we got to go to ROCK REEF on Bournemouth Pier! We had the rare opportunity for a morning workout and had a wonderful time racing and climbing.
For me, the trip was an amazing experience. It was an incredible opportunity and I am grateful for it (even though sharing a bathroom with 2 other friends was an “interesting” experience!). Of course, all the credit goes to the man, who arranged this whole thing, Mr. J Gaddes, along with the 13 other beloved teachers who were also very helpful. So, thank you all for this wonderful experience away from home.
