On Thursday 8th July, we celebrated our first Culture Day at Chelsea Academy.
The day was the initiative of our student anti-racism group, For the Culture. Its aim was to give staff and students, especially those from minority backgrounds, the chance to celebrate their cultures, and for everybody to learn together about the many cultures that enrich our school community. The day was a great success!
Students celebrated their cultures by wearing cultural dress, and engaged enthusiastically in opportunities to learn about one another’s cultures through conversations with staff and peers, lesson activities and extra-curricular cookery, art and dance classes. There was such a positive atmosphere between staff and students throughout the day as we united in demonstrating how much we value the diverse cultures that make up our community.
