Student Leadership Team

At Chelsea Academy we are committed to involving all members of our community, including the students, in decisions made and strategic planning for the Academy. This is a vital aspect of how we can work together to ensure all students can flourish in their education.

At Chelsea Academy we are committed to involving all members of our community, including the students, in decisions made and strategic planning for the Academy. This is a vital aspect of how we can work together to ensure all students can flourish in their education.

Chelsea Academy has an active Student Leadership Team, led by two Head Students from Year 13 and three Deputy Head Students from Year 12. Every member of this team has been selected following a rigorous application process, presentation and panel interview.  Our Student Leadership team is responsible for overseeing an active Student Voice council, made up of elected representatives from each of our 42 coaching groups. Full student voice council meetings take place once a half term. The agenda for these meetings is organised by the Head Students, in consultation with the coaching group representatives. Each half term, formal feedback from these meetings is given to the Principal and a member of the governing board.

In addition, we offer our Year 11 students the opportunity to apply for a Prefect position; working in this role involves actively participating in the running of the Academy on a daily basis. For example, lunch duties, speaking to governors, interview panels for new staff and helping at parent open evenings.

Involving students in their own education helps them take responsibility and know how to organise their time and their learning. They learn how to work with others, including adults, in a positive way and they will develop the skills and attitudes that universities and employers will be looking for in the future, to enable them to flourish.
