Having opened in September 2009 we are now an established, successful and oversubscribed academy. Every year over several hundred students want to join us in Year 7. Our outstanding and competitive Sixth Form also attracts hundreds of external applicants each year.
As a parent of three girls and an educator with thirty years of experience behind me, I am passionate and committed about the difference school can make to our children.
Our Academy vision: ‘Learning together to flourish’, is lived out every day and is a vision genuinely informed by our Christian values. These values of forgiveness, joy, perseverance, charity and servant leadership are an integral part of our journey to success. Visitors always comment on the sense of purpose; of belonging and of our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Our mission: Work Hard Be Kind No Excuses, provides students with a compass to guide and direct their own journey. And our Chelsea Academy Way for Behaviour clearly sets out our expectations, so that every student understands how they should conduct themselves both in and out of school.
We have a longer school day than most other local schools. Each day (apart from Wednesday) is made up of six, 55 minute lessons. Our curriculum is broad in Year 7, 8 and 9. This allows students to discover and master subjects such as Citizenship, the Arts and languages. These are of course in addition to the core building block subjects of English, Maths and Science. Towards the end of Year 9 students choose their GCSE options for the two year GCSE programme which starts in Year 10. All students take GCSE RE at the end of Year 10; the results are incredible and empower our young people as they then move into Year 11 and complete the rest of their GCSEs. Our Sixth Form offer is unique as we specialise in A Level only programmes and in addition have chosen to offer A Levels such as Design & Technology and English Literature & Language that are not offered locally. The Sixth Form is housed in a stunning new space on the ground floor which through the layout, furniture and staffing helps students transition from Year 11, work independently and take advantage of the many opportunities we offer. These include the weekly lecture series and superb Higher Education and Careers guidance.
Our Extended Curriculum ensures that students benefit from having a rich ‘all round’ experience. Over 50 free after-school clubs operate every week. We are fortunate that the Chelsea Academy Foundation funds and supports much of our Extended Curriculum offer. We recognise that many busy working parents are looking for a school that provides wrap-around care for younger Key Stage 3 students and so we open at 8am providing breakfast and after school clubs run until at least 4.30pm.
As a result of our Academy offer, by the time students leave at either 16 or 18, they will have achieved a strong set of qualifications but also will have developed the resilience, wisdom, hope and skills with which to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives.

I am exceptionally proud and privileged to lead Chelsea Academy. It is a wonderful and fast moving environment. We benefit from being in a fantastic London location and from the opportunity to take advantage of excellent partnerships, both local and further afield. The Academy is also fortunate to have an outstanding Board of governors. They are truly invested and interested in the Academy.
Please feel free to arrange a visit to the Academy or to contact us for further information.
